Container Storage in Nansha, China — Deep-Water depot at the Heart of the Pearl River Delta
Nansha is not just a district of Guangzhou Port — it is the most powerful deep-water container depot on the western side of the Pearl River Delta. It handles 75% of Guangzhou Port's entire container throughput, making it a critical link in South China's logistics system. For Indian importers across Mumbai, Chennai, Mundra, Kolkata, and other major gateways, Nansha depot offers exceptional value thanks to its automated facilities, mature multimodal network, and direct sailings to India.
My Containers provides container storage and handling services at partner depots in Nansha — delivering comprehensive logistics solutions tailored to Indian businesses.
Why Nansha depot Matters for Indian Logistics
Geographic Location & Scale
Nansha is located on Longxue Island in southern Guangzhou, at the geometric center of the Pearl River Delta. It is the only deep-water container depot in the western part of the region, giving it a strategic advantage in serving the industrial clusters of Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan, and other major manufacturing cities that supply Indian markets.
Global Status
Guangzhou Port, with Nansha as its core, ranks 5th globally and 4th in China by container throughput. In 2024, over 20 million TEU passed through Nansha. The depot can accommodate the world's largest vessels, and its approach channel width (385 meters) allows two mega-ships to transit simultaneously — critical for maintaining reliable sailing schedules to Indian ports.
Technology Leadership
Nansha depot is one of the most advanced in China. Many container handling processes are fully automated. Phase 4 — a fully automated depot — was launched in July 2022, and Phase 5 construction began in May 2026, confirming Nansha's status as a continuously evolving world-class hub.
Direct Routes to India
Nansha maintains an extensive network of direct sailings to major Indian ports. The depot's proximity to the South China Sea shipping lanes via the Malacca Strait enables competitive transit times to all Indian coasts. While My Containers and partner yards do not operate carriage services, the strategic location of our facilities near Pearl River ports allows optimization of cargo and container consolidation costs for India-bound shipments.
Nansha Port Capacity & Infrastructure
